OUR STORY
Beer brought us together and keeps us together
Interested in the background of naïlo’s founders, Bence and Anna? Read on!
While studying food technology in Hungary, Bence decided it would be a great idea to spend his Erasmus in Oulu, Finland. And it turned out to be! He made a lot of friends and fell in love with the Finnish weather (we know it seems unbelievable, but it really happened).
After returning to his home country and graduating, Bence began to gain experience by working in various establishments: first as the head of the research brewery at his home university, the Corvinus University of Budapest. From there, he moved on to Dréher Brewery and finally to Horizont Brewing, where he fully immersed himself in craft beer production. However, something pulled him back to the north. Well, he finally gave in and left. But his beer journey didn’t end there. A few years later, Bence and his friends founded Mallaskellari, one of Oulu’s craft beer pubs. This is where he met Anna, our other brewer.
Originally from the Czech Republic, Anna spent the summer of 2019 in Oulu taking part in a language course. Although her studies had nothing to do with beer at all, she’s always been passionate about craft beer. Sharing an apartment with a passionate homebrewer, she also became interested in the brewing process itself. After visiting several fascinating Czech microbreweries, she knew brewing was the way for her. So when she got the chance to start a brewery with Bence, she jumped at it.
And that’s how Naïlo was born. We’ve been brewing craft beer for you since September 2021 and hope to continue doing so for many years to come!

our philosophy
As we often say: We make beer for the joy of it. That’s really all it is!
naïlo was founded with a simple idea in mind: we needed an outlet for all the creativity that was brewing inside of us (pun intended), while creating tasty and visually stunning products at the same time .
Our project has never been about becoming the biggest, the most famous, or the highest rated, and that will never change. No matter how cheesy that may sound, we do what we do for the love of the craft!
Having said all that, we’d like to see ourselves as contributors to the diversity of Finnish beer culture. We believe that diversity is key to helping consumers choose quality over quantity. That is what we are committed to.

With this mantra in mind, we create our products. Beer is a drink of love, friendship and peace, and does not discriminate on the basis of religion, sexual orientation or skin colour.
We strive to keep our selection as diverse as possible, so that everyone can find something they like to drink. After all, every beer style has its own unique beauty and deserves to be celebrated.
Diversity and inclusiveness are also important to us in terms of dietary restrictions. Our beers are already vegan. But we don’t stop there. We’re well aware of how difficult it can be to find good quality glutenfree products and are constantly working to expand our glutenfree range.

Animal products don’t belong into beer! All of our beers are vegan and always will be. Period.
